BPMC Center News

BPMC is Relocating in 2025!

Brooklyn Plaza Medical Center (BPMC) has been part of the fabric of the Fort Greene neighborhood in Brooklyn since 1978. Founded as “HIRE – Health Is a Right for Everyone” by Dr. Josephine English, a trailblazing Black obstetrician/gynecologist, BPMC’s mission from its

the beginning has been to provide primary care in Fort Greene, one of the most disinvested communities in Brooklyn.

Now, BPMC is expanding to a new home at the Brooklyn Armory in Crown Heights, where access to health care is urgently needed, while maintaining, indeed expanding its presence near the New York City Housing Authority’s Walt Whitman Houses in Fort Greene. The new Crown Heights location, scheduled to open this summer, will provide a vast array of dental, primary medical care, women’s health, pediatric and behavioral health services. It will also offer specialty services such as cardiology, podiatry, allergy, and even optometry! There will be an on-site laboratory and, eventually, an on-site pharmacy. Our new facility will provide true, “health home”, the community has longed for and deserves. Excellent health care in a new, state of the art facility. This marks a new chapter in BPMC’s mission to build a healthier Brooklyn.
